Computer Frozen: The Complete Fix

First rule: a completely frozen PC is not damaged by a force restart. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then restart. The fixes below prevent it from coming back.

One app keeps freezing

End it from Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and reopen. Frozen apps usually mean RAM pressure — check how much memory the app and your system are using. Update or reinstall the app, and disable heavy browser extensions.

Freezes during heavy work

That's classic overheating. Clean dust from fans, check the overheating guide, and confirm fans spin under load. Also check disk space — a full drive makes everything stutter.

• Keep disk space above ~10%.

Frozen means software or hardware
