Forgot WiFi Password: The Complete Fix

You don't need to reset the router — the password is recoverable from a connected Windows PC or printed on the router itself.
Recover it from Windows
If a Windows PC is already connected to the network, the password is stored. Right-click the WiFi icon â Network & Internet settings â Advanced network settings â More network adapter options â right-click your adapter â Status â Wireless Properties â Security tab â check Show characters.
Check the router sticker
Most routers print the default SSID and password on a sticker underneath or on the back. If it was changed, log into the router admin page (often http://192.168.1.1) and look under Wireless settings.
Reset only as a last resort
Holding the router's reset button restores factory defaults — including the sticker password — but wipes every custom setting. Only do this if you can't recover it any other way.
